Five Criteria. Each worth 20 Points.
Theme: One Pan Wonder – Quick and Simple
These are the five things the jury will look at in your video or audio entry. Each one is worth 20 points. Let’s go through them clearly and step-by-step.
1. One-Pan Simplicity (20 Points)
Did you follow the challenge rules?
We’re celebrating simplicity with soul. The dish should:
- Be made using only one pan
- Use 5 ingredients or fewer (salt, oil, water, and common spices don’t count)
- Be quick and easy, perfect for everyday cooking
- Stay within the 15-minute time limit
Pro Tip: Tell us clearly what pan you’re using, and count out your ingredients at the start.
2. Mise en Place – Preparation & Flow (20 Points)
Were you organized and composed while cooking?
A smooth cook is a confident cook. We’ll look for:
- Ingredients and tools neatly ready before starting
- A logical, step-by-step flow without rushing or fumbling
- Calm, clear narration or explanation
- A sense of control, confidence, and comfort in the kitchen
Pro Tip: Prepare everything in advance, and walk us through the process as if we’re cooking with you.
3. Creativity & Innovation (20 Points)
Did your recipe surprise or inspire us?
Simple doesn’t mean boring. We want to see:
- Smart use of limited ingredients
- A fresh twist or cultural blend
- A touch of boldness or originality
- Unexpected but effective techniques or flavors
Pro Tip: Think of a dish you love and give it a clever, personal twist. Let your creativity shine!
4. Authenticity & Storytelling (20 Points)
Why does this dish matter to you?
Food is more than ingredients — it’s memory, identity, emotion. We’re listening for:
- A heartfelt story behind the dish
- Connections to your life, culture, or experience
- A feeling of genuineness and personal voice
- A deeper emotional or cultural context
Pro Tip: Speak from the heart. Tell us why this dish is yours.
5. Imagery of Final Dish (20 Points)
Can we picture your dish — taste it in our minds?
Even without tasting, great storytelling can bring a dish alive. We’ll check:
- How well you describe taste, aroma, and texture
- If we get a clear image of your final plate
- In videos: the dish should look neat and complete
- In audio: words should create a vivid sensory picture
Pro Tip: Help us smell the spices, hear the sizzle, feel the comfort of that first bite.
